The Cold Mountain Violin

This Relic was a movie prop used in the movie Cold Mountain.

If you watch the violin scene closely you can see that the violin has a unique cobra carved into the head of the violin.

I have the whole thing. The case, the fiddle, the bow, resin and a damn good story.

--I love movie props!

  3. Ahoy! There are many ways, Hi I'm John with Revivo Violins. You can start by having it looked at by a trained luthier. You may also have the spruce tree rings dated by a dendrochronologist. Does the fiddle have any labels inside? I assume it's an old violin circa 1880-1930 that had the scroll modified for Hollywood. I'd love more photos of the scroll if you're willing. Thank you! John

  4. If I could get any info about the person that made it, the story, and photos of the front, back and side profiles of the cobra, I'd be very grateful. -John
